Permanent Make-Up

Permanent make-up places pigment into the upper layer of the skin using single-use, sterile micro-needles. Performed under medical supervision, it is ideal for people who have little time for make-up or who find it hard to correct imperfections on the brows, eyes and lips with cosmetics. Anaesthetic creams keep discomfort to a minimum, and because the work is done in the upper layer of the skin, many people say it hurts less than a tattoo.

How long it lasts depends on the area treated, your skin type, and your skin's elasticity and moisture. Pigments gradually break down as the skin renews itself, so touch-ups at regular intervals are important to keep your results looking fresh.

Microblading (the Phibrows 3D hair-stroke technique) is a manual, semi-permanent brow drawing technique. The brow shape is calculated using the golden ratio (1.618) and your facial structure, and strokes are drawn in the direction your natural brows grow for a highly realistic look. Rather than following the golden ratio rigidly, the aim is the shape that suits your face best. Powder brows, meanwhile, fill gaps in sparse brows for a fuller, denser look.

Permanent lip make-up and lip liner help lips look fuller and more defined, and can correct asymmetry and colour loss that develop over time. Sterile micro-needles are used, as in tattooing, but the pigment is not placed as deep and fades from the skin over time. For lip liner, this usually takes 2–3 years.

Permanent eye make-up uses two techniques: permanent eyeliner and lash-line liner. Eyeliner is applied along the eyelid, with or without a wing, while lash-line liner is a finer, subtler line along the lash line only. A guide line is drawn first and refined until you are happy with it, then the treatment begins. Both typically last 1.5–2 years.
